Prairie False Foxglove
I went for a walk Sunday with my dog bubba and I noticed there were a few purple flowers around. They don't stay on the stem long, but they are really pretty. These are False Foxgloves which grow throughout the central and eastern part of the state. You can find nice flower arrangements in Walmart's grocery area that have the same properties of theese flowers. They are very pretty in the arrangements and last a long time. The ones in those arrangementz are actual foxglove. These flowers aren't that. They are prairie false foxglove.
The latin name is (Agalinis tenuifolia). The flowers have needle light leaves and have really loose flowering blossoms that fall off when the flower is at it's prime. The area that usually you find prairie false foxglove is usually grassy like a prairie but not. These are annual flowers that reseed themselves well.
