There is not a yard in Alabama that doesn't have one small henbit in it. Henbit was one of the flowers that I remember as a child that I picked. They are little pink headed flamingos in tutus hanging out all over the grass.
Although, you see these plants every year, they are annuals which only stay here one season. Their seeds are well propagaded for your best soil on the lawn. Bees and other insects love the pollen that it produces. Chances are you have seen the little critters all over them.
I know "edible flowers" had been a very interesting fad in salads and many other foods, atop of pretty cakes, this one is a edible flower if you are interested in that kind of thing.
