Kirtland's Warbler photo found at wikimedia commons under cc law
Kirkland's Warbler is a small songbird found in North America and was named after Jared P Kirkland. He was a niche naturalist and doctor. These birds were almost extinct 50 years ago, but now they are alive and well. They are cuties with their fat little yellow tummies, greyish blue, and spotted bodies. In this particular photo, you see a male. The females are yellow and have mottle wings and hood on.
These little birds are indigenous to the jack pine. That is mainly where they lay their eggs. They move from the Great Lakes to the Appalachian Highlands. That's in between the Northeastern part of our great land into the Southeastern United States. In our area, you usually hear the mid winter months to early springtime. Their song goes chip-too-tweet-tweet
