Flycatcher In Alabama

I noticed the cutest thing outside the other day, there was a small bird perched outside on a old branch and it was circling the area around it's perch catching bugs. The little bird was so interesting that I let my aunt notice it. It looked as though it were a pet like a small finch in a bird cage. It sat tall on the edge of the branch like it owned the bugs. I looked on the internet of what it could be. I found that it was called a flycatcher. Flycatchers aren't rare in Alabama and are very numerous. There are several species here. They are a great help to the environment around and eat nasty little pests that invade gardens and our yards. There are sixteen species of fly catchers in the state. They range from very small to large. The birds snack on berries, flies, mosquitoes and other types of insects. The birds make their nest out of small twigs, vines, and about anything they can find even sometimes man made items like string, paper and other stuff.
