Sour Orange

     The Sour Orange was brought to the United States by  the Spanish during the discovering of America. It is called the sour orange, bitter orange, bigarade orange, and marmalade orange.  This orange is used for it's fragrant qualities more so than anything else. Many people use it as flavoring, not for full use of edible qualities.

     The sour orange has been used in weight loss products, but not effective by the Food And Drug Administration. The sour orange is a ingredient in ephedra which deadly. The South Indians in Asia pickle the fruit . They cut them in circles, salt them and pickle them when they are unripe. These are plentiful in Southeast Asia and the Oriental part of Asia and are somehow kin to the  bergamont orange that grows in Italy. The Belgian people have also used the version of orange to make their beer.
