(cypripediodeae found at wikimedia commons under creative commons)
Having talks about flowers always makes me feel better. They are the one things besides strawberries that I have loved since I could walk. I was talking to one of my friend's daughters about her country which is in Central America and it made me dream vividly of how it would look with orchids and flowers everywhere. The climate in the Southeast is a little like Central American climates in the Gulf Coast area. We have beautiful orchids in our state that I didn't know about and some of them are Cypripediodeae. Cypripediodeae is a class of flowers grown in the United States. It is a genus family of pocket shaped orchids that can be found in tropical/subtropical areas like Alabama.

Eventhough there are many species of flowers in this category I have narrowed one down as my favorite one.
This is the pink lady slipper found all over the Southeastern United States. This flower was used for medicinal purposes by stopping seizures and spasmodic episodes. There are other medicinal things used with the same
classification found in this postscript document form from pollinator.org.
There are orchid societies all over the South and there are many in Alabama too. There are several that you can find below if you are a Southerner and a major orchid enthusiast.
