Blue Jays Around Home

My cat got into a fight with a larger one and got caught up in an old oak tree. He sat emotionless up in the v of the tree between two large branches. There was a horrible noise above his head. I recognized it as a blue jay. They sound really mad when they start squawking about anything.

I noticed they were not shutting up and I understood why. It had to do with the cat up in the tree. The blue jay male and female were swooping down and pecking him on the head. The cat didn't seem to care. He just stayed in the v of the tree and was amused about the whole situation. The male was beautifully colored bright blue, lavender, black and white. The female wasn't quite as vibrant as the male, but they had the same interest in preserving their nest from the cat.

We have just two female cats and the rest of them are males and hunters. Nothing pretty much gets away with attacking a cat. Perhaps that's why boots stayed up in the tree to get him a larger bird rather than going back down to be bullied again. The black cat I think did him a favor by chasing him up into a tree so he could practically enjoy a bird attack. Cats are strange that way anyway.
