The Ecosystem Of A Tree In Alabama

One of my favorite things is the ecosystem of a huge tree. You do not know how interesting it is to look up at the trees in Southeast USA. Trees not only help protect the environment, but also make a nice home to many creatures that live in the wild and provide shelter for us against the sun's harmful uv rays. Tjey provide shade from the heat and help positive energy in your area to be transferred back to you. Squirrels make their nest in the trees above like birds. Unlike birds, they pack their cheeks with the seeds and nuts that the trees provide so they can store food for the winter. Squirrels also can uses trees to stay away from preditors like dogs and cats that would love nothing more than to kill them. Bugs like the Beetle help the tree to survive by eating the bugs and pests on the tree. Some trees have problems with the bugs, those bugs are eaten by birds and other types of animals. It's mostly woodpeckers and other birds that work into the tree that eat the insects. In Alabama we have several birds that do this, the bluejay takes care of the insect and seeds in trees. The other small birds like the warbler and thrasher help keep down population of things that harm the tree. Squirrels build huge nests in trees. Most of the squirrels are fox squirrels which are the largest squirrel in Alabama. Moths have their larvae in trees and that's taken care of by the anoles and lizards who hang out in trees. These are just diverse examples of how amazing our trees are in Alabama. If you pay attention on a warm and sunny day to the activity going on in a tree, you can find alot of things out. I watched trees in the 80's when i was a girl on sick days home from school. I saw an Ivory Billed Woodpecker through the trees finding insects at the very top of trees. The bird was extremely huge. There had been talks of extinction, but I was not exactly sure. I know that they are very big woodpeckers not like the red headed woodpecker or other types. Thanks for reading and have a nice day.
