Purple Gallinule
The purple gallinule is a marsh bird that's native to both Florida and Alabama. The pretty bird has a green back, red on it's beak and a blue under his chest. The birds are just like any in the state They come from South America and Middle America and enjoy our climates and then migrate back to whence they came.
They are extremely pretty, but the babies and female aren't quite as vibrate as the male. The birds like to feed on insects, frogs, fish and worms. They usually have 5-6 eggs. They are animals that enjoy the swamp and marshy areas. There have not been any known to go further up the coast, but there are Gallinules that have been reported as far as Europe.
