Natural Bug Repellants In Alabama's Forests

There are a few things that bugs hate in the wild of Alabama and those things are just in your front and back yard. You wouldn't think that a few trees that grow around your yard are actually bug repellant, but they are.

The Porch Creek Indians in Wetumpka, Alabama use the Sassafrass tree as an antiseptic to bug bites and scrapes. Bugs won't hardly touch a sassafras tree and it smells like a really fresh lemony tea. There are tons of mosquitoes out so, if you don't have any off or cutter, you might want to grab a sassafras leaf and wipe the bug bite off.

The hickory nut tree is a cousin to the walnut. Black Walnuts are resistant to pests like fleas, mosquitoes and other insects. It has a pungent medicine smell that smells like off or  cutter. The plant does grow nuts  each fall. They also carry the pungent scent. The remedy used for bug repellent is laying down the leaves on floor or under furniture to keep the bugs out. If you don't want to spend alot on expensive things that wouldn't make a difference regardless.
