Liatris Aspera Blazing Star

(liatris aspera found at photobucket.com under creative commons)

Liatris Aspera is a perennial comes back up every year. I don't see very many growing in one area around my parts, but they are really pretty. These have long stalks and can grow up to four feet. They come out from early summer to late. The flowers sprout up most likely to the small asters that we have around Lake Martin. Looks like a nice little wildflower bouquet on some occasions.

These flowers were discovered by Louis and Clark on their expedition
