The Banded Darter is a fish that lives in Alabama's fresh streams and waters. It has thirteen green bands around it's body and stays closer to the rocks than any other small fish. They are one of the few perches that are on Alabama's endangered species list.
The Banded darter is a type of perch that likes the rocky areas and the secluded areas of fresh water. They love insects and mate during the late spring and attach their eggs to the plant life underwater.
