Blue Curls Pennyroyal

(From: Medical botany by William Woodville. London, James Phillips, 1793, 1. edition, volume 3 (plate 171).
found at wikimedia commons and photobucket)

Blue Curls grows in Alabama's Wild religiously eventhough it's called by nickname "Bastard Penny Royal". This flowering plant is a part of the mint family which has a huge line of culinary herbs such as mint, oregano, coriander, and lovage.
Penny Royal is a bit different from it's mint relatives. It has a history of removing unwanted births from young women. This herb is very dangerous to use in that manner because it kills young women who have had pregnancies. There is no evidence that you can be healthy and drink this tea for that purpose.
This herb is pretty to use as a bouquet for a flower arrangement, but in small induced amounts it has caused very toxic effects. If you need more information on sources for this plant, checkout webmd . Please keep this flowering plant out of the mouths of your kids and their friends. If you see it pull it up and throw it in the garbage can.
