Morning Glory

(picture found at photobucket.com by crazyplantlady)

The Morning Glory is a very invasive plant that tangles up meadows and intertwines with may pop vines and kudzu throughout the state of Alabama. The funniest part of the Morning Glory is people actually love it climbing their trellis's and in hanging baskets.

The morning glory pops open in the morning and closes in the afternoon hours.  Their cousin "Man Of The Earth" is an actual sweet potato plant, but only with a tuber root, very small potato. The plant is eye catching with it's pretty blue flowers hanging from this thin vine. My aunt Myrtice accidently has a vine cluster hanging from her front porch.

The morning glory has 39 species of "bugs" that uses the vine. They are mostly ants, butterflies and some moths. They span from the farthest north of the state to lowest panhandle of mobile. Thank you for reading until next time.
