(periclymenoides "pink honeysuckle tree" found at flickr under creative commons)
This is the neatest flowering tree! We call it a pink honeysuckle tree! It blooms at the same time that the dogwood blooms in springtime right before easter. It sometimes is found right beside the dogwood. The wild dogwood and pink honeysuckle tree really makes the woods light up in springtime. I actually go looking for these and make my auntie a bouquet of dogwood blossoms, peach blossoms and pink honeysuckle tree blossoms.
This is so cool! This tree is actually an azalea. Who would have known! It according to this site! It grows in Central Alabama which is also the beginning of the Appalachian Highlands which starts in Wetumpka, Alabama to the border of Tennessee. This is the most beautiful site you'll see going to Knoxville from Birmingham. Don't miss out on this site in springtime!
