The Alabama Beach Mouse

(photo of beach mouse found at wikimedia commons under creative commons license)

The Alabama Beach Mouse is under the federal endangered species list. This little mouse lives on the dunes of Alabama's beautiful, sugary beach shores. Mostly found on Fort Morgan Peninsula and areas along that region.

Progress has made the species endangered. The construction of roadways and resorts popping up has diminished the little mouse from having habitat in these areas. The Alabama Beach Mouse thrives in the sand dune ecosystem.  It's much needed for other species that the mouse needs too. The little mouse likes sea oats, beach grasses, and herbs around the dunes.  For the Mouse's survival, dunes provide proper home from flooding and natural disasters.  If you are interested in preserving the Alabama Beach Mouse  click here .
