(cinnamon fern found at flickr creative commons)
Osumundastrum Cinamomium is a plant that grows a half an acre down my backyard into the forest. It's one of the most beautiful ferns that I have ever seen. I am so happy to find this particular plant because it is really neat.
This particular plant is called deciduous herbaceous plant. It produces sterile and fertile fronds. It creates a spore bearing rod that is similar to a cinnamon rod.
These plants are also found in Korea, Mynamar, Japan, Thailand. In the American Continents, it's found in Southeastern United States, South America, West Indies, also Southeastern Siberia.
They are harvested for their fibers which is osmundastrum. In swampy areas, orchids grow wildly and these fibers naturally propagate. When growers need these orchids they use osmundastrum fibers from the rod of spores.
The Cinnamon Fern is about 75 billion years old. It's a living fossil that has renewed itself over and over again. If you are interested in ferns, there are more to be shown in this blog. Have a great day and thanks for reading about the Cinnamon Fern
