Hydrilla Verticillata found at wikimedia commons under creative commons law
Hydrilla grows wildly in Alabama and Florida because the waters are somewhat warmer than other climates throughout the United States. This plant is native to Europe, Asia and also Queensland Australia/New Zealand.
Hydrilla has a off-white type of rhizomes. they span out all over the plant. The plant flowers in rare occasions, but it isn't seen too often. The rhizones are very discusting and grow out in a fashion like tentacles on a hydra which is a small microscopic animal with tentacles.
These plants are resistant to the saline of the ocean and to fresh water places. They are very noxious and sometimes become resistant to some pesticides.
