The Blue Jay is in the family of Passerine birds. They are a little larger than most of Alabama's common birds and one of the most beautiful, healthy and strong. They are omnivorous eating both meat and herb.
These birds are very protective of their young and habitat. If you see a cat trying to come near the tree where they are nesting, they will try to harm the cat, both male and female birds.
This bird is in a group called corvids. They try to mimic speech of their homo sapian neighbors and other critters they hear. They will copy quiet and loud noises. These birds are throughout the United States and are very beautiful birds that will help end pests such as insects that destroy trees.
Predators that feed on Jays are hawks, eagles, owls and larger birds. If a cat gets one, the cat knows that he's a lucky one because the jay fights back too often.
