The American Kestrel

(American Kestrel male, Falco Sparverius found at wikimedia commons)

The American Kestrel (Falco Sparverius is the smallest falcon in North America.  This one is about the size of a  thrush. This bird isn't that observable in the wild due to lack of genus. This bird is borderline endangered.

The usual place you can find Kestrels around is parks and forests. They like a place where they can perch and observe while hunting.  The oldest kestrel lived in captivity for 15 years. American kestrels can live about in the same place for a long time before the food chain changes.  To learn more about American Kestrels in Alabama logon to Alabama Outdoors
