Prunella Vulgaris (Selfheal)

This flower that you see on the side grows mostly in rich moist soil in the grassy areas mostly found near homes, in fields and moisture rich areas. It's a hardy grower and takes less beatings than many other plants do.

Healall or selfheal is a box plant that starts growing in the spring when seeds are dispersed naturally. It has been known to cure some diseases or symptoms of diseases, but not exactly proven. Altnature describes it as an herb that cures stds and some dermatitis problems.

The herb is used in dry form and is made into a poultice which is used topically not internally.The herb contains many vitamins that help with many problems. around. Although Prunella Vulgarus is a very good healing agent, it's not approved  by the FDA and could be harmful if used without doctor's supervision. Always contact a doctor before treating a disease on your own.

In Alabama wildflower types this particular one is under blue category because the flowers are purple. It's a yearly so you'll have it all the time if you want to incorporate it into your own landscape or garden as a filler or border.
