Water Hyacinth

(water hyacinth photo found at photobucket by a. murray university of florida)

Hyacinth Bucket was one of the most annoying next door neighbors anyone could have in the britcom, "Keeping Up Appearances" She can't understand that the Water Hyacinth is one of the most beautiful water flowers in Alabama. If you see these, don't touch! They are protected by Alabama's Wildlife and are a very endangered plant.
This flowering water plant is very wanted by the state, so if you see this one around, please contact conservation authorities in Alabama.
The plant is very floaty with spongy leaves and bulbous flowering hyacinth like blooms. It's very different from many flowers you might have seen around. These flowers form a thick beautiful and interesting full mat on the waters edge. They are very lovely to look at.
