Indian Tobacco

(Creative Commons license from Invasive.org)

This is Indian Tobacco and from personal experience, it tastes exactly like mint. It's a biannual plant that grows along brush in the Southeastern United States and Species run in the Midwest too. Know what you are picking cause this has a laxative effect to it!

It comes from the family lobelia but this in fact is the short leaf species. Here's a little bit about the plant. It has a sweet minty taste, if you know a little bit about herbs, you know this one will keep you on the toilet for a year. South Americans use this type of tobacco to eat with their cuisine that's quite tasty. Go to an authentic  Native American's house to eat this cuisine or to a Mayan, Toltec, Incan or Aztec's home to eat this in their food. It's very good, but you must know how to use it wisely.
If you are in the wild, be warned, if you eat this one by itself, don't come complaining to the blog owner about it. Keep your toilet paper handy for at least 1 day and a half.
