Tropical Soda Apple

(photo found at Texas Invasives http://www.texasinvasives.org)

The Tropical Soda Apple has kind of an orchid looking bloom shaped like a star, huge thorns and a golf ball sized fruit that attracts, birds, deer, racoons, opossums, and other wildlife. The plant originates from Brazil and Argentina and is on Texas's most invasive list. The wildlife disperses of the seeds and the tree multiplies throughout the wild life area.
As far as I know, the plant can be eaten by humans. I can't see any of these around my area, but they are on Alabama's Noxious list. If you know anything about it, you can leave a link to your blog or site here!
