Japanese Climbing Vines

(pictures found at invasive.org and pictures are under creative commons law)

This is the Japanese Climbing Fern. It's a very neat plant and I think one of it's own kind.  It tackles the subtropical and tropical areas of the world and can be found throughout the southeastern United States and all of Asia. This plant has a neat way of climbing up a tree or whatever it infests. It rolls out and grabs on to whatever it is on. A fern is really curled up before it comes out. Once it comes out of curling, it has a flat face with many little fingers. This fern actually works as a vine, but not a vine, actual fern.

The Lygodium Japanesium some botanists believe is actually in the family of Schizaeaceae. The climbing fern is very unusual to a fern family for a plant to work as a vine and infesting a tree is pretty amazing. Some people hate the fact that it does this, but I think it's really pretty. If it's there, let it grow! Some people might be able to incorporate it around a flowering garden or something like that! Hope you like this post, until next time!
